In celebration of a few months of great recordings, we present this album of recent projects:
First, our most recent project. Duo Odéon has been in the studio all week working on a recording of the music of George Antheil. Read more about the project here.
In late June we enjoyed having Ronn McFarlane, here for a solo lute recording. Either as a soloist, with Ayreheart, or with one of the other groups he occasions, Ronn has probably recorded more albums with us than any other artist.
We also do location recording. In June, we traveled to Boston to record Skylark for the follow-up to their acclaimed Crossing Over. Second Inversion called Crossing Over “…gorgeous, evocative, and other-worldly…” What will they say about this upcoming album?
Bruce Levingston is another artist we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming again and again. Here’s a photo from his visit in May. His most recent album, Dreaming Awake, Levingston and Ethan Hawke performed Philip Glass’s “Wichita Vortex Sutra” that includes a narration of the Allen Ginsberg poem that inspired the work. If you haven’t heard it, you should certainly check it out.
More in May. Matei Varga first recorded at Sono Luminus with cellist Laura Metcalf for their project, First Day. He’s back for a project of his own due out next year. Stay tuned for that.
